REALITY

REALITY

The external world is an interesting place.  Its reality seems to be dependent on the inner consciousness of the observer.  Each one of us sees the circumstances and events of the outer world from a different perspective.  In effect, we see the world not as it is, but as we are.  My world is a reflection of who I am.

A current example of a world event seen from different perspectives is the FBI raid on Mara Lago.  Some of us see this raid from the perspective of a legally and morally justified action against a former President who flouts the rule of law, and deserves to be criminally indicted. Some of us see from the perspective of fear that a massive data breach is endangering our nation’s security.  Some see this raid as a politically motivated stunt to damage the reputation of the former President.  Some see it as an opportunity to attack the FBI and law enforcement officials or defund the Justice Department.  In the end, it is what it is—an FBI raid on a home of the former President to retrieve boxes of documents.

Perhaps a less controversial example will be an event I am planning for later today—a bike ride on Allen County roads Northwest of Fort Wayne.  My personal perception will be a time to enjoy the experience of freedom that comes with being out in the country, alone on my bike.  One motorist may pass me, giving a friendly wave and lots of space, and feeling happy that an old man is still able to enjoy riding a bike.  Another motorist may see me and be inspired to get on her own bike as soon as she gets home.  Yet another motorist may lay on their horn, roar past me within a foot of my left elbow, feeling angry that I am sharing a part of their road.  In the end, it is what it is—an old man on a bike.
